Wonderseum for 4 year-olds
Wonderseum provides a secure environment for discovery and learning through play, while supporting our philosophy that play comes first.
Recognizing that 4-year-olds need social interaction and cognitive development, our program is offered 2 or 3 days a week with a class size of only 10 students, allowing our educators to have an abundance of time to engage with students.
Wonderseum for 4 year-olds
Wonderseum
Two and Three day programs
*Students must be potty trained and be 4 years old by the start of the semester. Wonderseum is not designed for drop-in attendance.
The Wonderseum environment provides open-ended discussion and a “playful” approach to learning and discovery while empowering children with an easier transition to kindergarten.
Guided explorations encouraging a discovery of culture through the arts, expanding language and early literacy, science and math, circle drumming, are all determined and planned to create global awareness, reading readiness and comprehension, and number recognition and association, while refining children’s fine motor skills.
With a Reggio Emilia inspired environment located inside the museum, children are presented with projects that enhance their fine motor skills and self-expression, while preparing them with kindergarten readiness skills.
Math exploration provides open-minded activities reinforcing number recognition and counting through graphing with shells, cards, dominoes and pompoms.
In science, children explore the five senses and discover what body part is responsible for hearing, tasting, and smelling while using a mirror. Cloud formations are studied and insect cycles are explained by creating stain glass butterfly art projects.
Balance is explored by building a balance scale while using Playdough to engineer structures with sticks.
Children experience the joy of music through singing, dancing, and moving expressively to a variety of music genres, discovering different cultures through their music, and exploring rhythm and rhyme–all of which promote the development of essential skills including listening, vocabulary-building, social-emotional, and motor.
Every class includes hands-on experiences with activities involving parachute play, bean bags, scarves, rhythm instruments, or puppets. From acting out classic musical pieces such as “Carnival of the Animals” by Camille Saint-Saens to drawing/scribbling their feelings when listening to different styles of music, children are able to immerse themselves in a celebration of music!
Each day ends with a circle time reading that allows time for each student to ask questions and express their thoughts and feelings of the story.

Little Picassos for 2 & 3 year-olds meets WEDNESDAYS
Class is limited to ONE ADULT per registered child.
Excellent workshop for grandparents searching for ways to spend time with their grandchildren while fostering a deep understanding between generations.
Twos and threes explore art as a learning experience and are more interested in “doing” art than making finished products. During the “process”, twos and threes discover their own independence, as well as delighting in the joy of exploring and creating art. Using a variety of mediums to create mini masterpieces and stimulate artistic imaginations, toddler and grownup share the “process” of art as a stimulus to engage discovery and becoming familiar with various art mediums, such as painting, collage, fiber art and building with clay while squishing, mixing, tearing and swirling. Leave the “messy” with us, but painting clothes are recommended.

RobotiKs and Beyond for 7-10 year-olds meets THURSDAYS
Young engineers are introduced to LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime by combining colorful LEGO® building elements, easy-to-use hardware, and an intuitive drag-and-drop coding language based on Scratch. This curriculum engages students through playful learning activities to think critically and solve complex problems, regardless of their learning level. From easy-entry projects to limitless creative design possibilities, including the option to explore text-based coding with Python, SPIKE helps students discover the essential STEAM and 21st century skills needed to become the innovative minds of tomorrow… while having fun!
Then using the LEGO® Mindstorms® Education platform, EV3 young engineers are introduced to the basic fundamentals of building and mechanical principles by engaging and motivating them to design, build and program their robots, using motors, sensors, gears, wheels, axles and various technical components.
While gaining a better understanding of how technology can work in real-world applications, the EV3 curriculum develops creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. Coding is done by dragging and dropping icons into a line to form commands, allowing students to create, build and then, mechanically manipulate their “rover” with space-themed missions and solutions.

Imagine a week where children are seen as curious explorers, their creativity is nurtured and their unique perspectives are celebrated. The essence of Reggio Emilia is a philosophy that revolutionizes how we perceive and facilitate early education. This week-long workshop introduces tactile experiences through printmaking, clay exploration and collage. These themes and methods are connected with age-appropriate literature along with a small child to teacher ratio. Children will have the added benefit of enjoying time exploring play in the museum during the week before the museum is open for general admission.

Students discover the “right stuff” to create an animated film. Every camper determines their own individual idea that they will plan by storyboarding, making sets and sculpting characters. After taking many photos of their “characters,” campers make it all come alive through editing in post-production with sound effects, music, overlays and more. Students will, also, create their own LEGO® sets and experiment with green screens for the first time, allowing them to put any background they wish in their films.
Attending with individual iPads or tablet is highly recommended to allow instant access to films as they are created and completed.
