Make the most of Spring Break by enrolling in our weeklong Wondercamp workshops scheduled for March 13-17. These engaging age-appropriate workshops are designed to build children’s interest and skills in areas ranging from visual arts and science to coding and robotics.  School children can spend their spring break this year immersed in moments of creativity and exploration. Spring BreaKation is a week full of hands-on exploration and imaginative learning!  Discovery Workshops for 4 -5 year-olds meets 9:00am-noon Monday-Thursday and feature a different themed workshop each day. Creative Workshops takes place Monday – Fridays and offer 5-8 year-olds classes that range from art and science to robotics. This year we have added a special Creative Coding class for 7-10 year-olds.  Spring BreaKation helps families fill their children’s week away from school with enriching experiences they can enjoy in a safe, nurturing environment. Every activity is designed to inspire creative thinking, whether the focus is art or science.

Spring BreaKation Wondercamp Workshops for 4 to 5 year-olds  Monday 3/13 through Thursday 3/16

Specially designed for 4-5 year-olds, children explore new topics each day, presenting hands-on activities to excite and develop a young child’s imagination through dramatic play, squishing, sorting, mixing, swirling, collecting or building. Different-themed workshops each day for 4 days.

Get messy with a hands-on exploration of different art mediums. Use tempera, watercolor, acrylic, and pencil to recreate two classic works of art by known artists

Dino Detectives-Thursday 3/16 9:00am-Noon
Children become paleontologists for a day as they study fossils, dinosaurs and geology. Children will study the Texas state dinosaur, sift for fossils, study the rock cycle and break their own geode.

 


 

Spring BreaKation Creative Workshops for 5 to 8 year-olds  Monday 3/13 through Friday 3/17

Intended for children 5-8 years-old, these workshops are designed as an artistic exploration to provide triggers for creativity using various creative disciplines, to introduce and immerse in cultural discoveries and to experience basic construction and scientific reinforcement while creating opportunities in a safe and nurturing environment for positive social interactions. Classes meets Monday through Friday.

Scientifically ARTrageous for 5-8 year-olds. Combining the curiosity of science and the beauty of art, children will embrace an exciting opportunity to discover basic concepts of science through art experiences. Knowing that children love to explore, experiment and discover, the focus is to build on this natural curiosity while combining the beauty of art and the fascination of science. Children will share this journey discovering and exploring the combination of art processes with science hypothesis and outcomes.

LEGO® Frenzy Meets Righteous Robotiks for 5-8 year-olds. Using creative thinking and problem- solving abilities, children design and build models with LEGO® pieces and kits to satisfy a specific purpose while exploring basic construction concepts, simple machines and how gears work. Curriculum is designed to develop skills in science, simple technology, engineering and mathematics. Robotiks is Righteous!!!!

Lights, Camera, Action for 5-10 year-olds. Experience make-believe and imagination as we peek into the world of Shakespeare in this interactive theatre arts workshop! Students will explore dancing, singing, theatre games, creating props and so much more! Lights, camera, action!!!!

Creative Coders for 7-10 year-olds. This workshop introduces powerful learning tools for beginner coders. Art and technology merge with projects that include animation, games, interactive stories, bright visuals and drag and drop block-based coding, while providing opportunities for physical art projects to support digital concepts. Discovering fundamental coding conceptsbusing Scratch, a platform developed by MIT Media Lab, children will enjoy thinking creatively, reason systematically and work collaboratively, as they share their creation with each other. This workshop is a great stepping stone towards a path to advanced coding languages. This class engages in reading and typing, so children must be proficient in reading skills.

Lunch Bunch 12:00pm-1:00pm. $25 per child for the week. LUNCH BUNCH is offered for children who…are signed up for both morning and afternoon classes, attend morning classes but cannot be picked up at noon, attend afternoon classes but need to be dropped off before 1:00 p.m. Children are to bring a sack lunch and a drink.  To register for LUNCH BUNCH, please register your child(ren) for the desired workshop and indicate on the required form the number of children attending Lunch Bunch.
