Susan Langlois is a hiker, biker, thinker, and writer! Before starting her writing career, Susan spent 34 years in education. She was named Outstanding Houston Citizen by the North Houston Chamber of Commerce, was a finalist for the H-E-B Excellence in Education Lifetime Achievement Award, and was the recipient of the Points of Pride award.
Susan now focuses on her passion for writing children’s stories. Her books have themes of hope, kindness, and friendship — with some chuckles sprinkled in the mix. Susan’s ideas are inspired by children, animals, community, and real-life events. She enjoys bringing out the best in people through her book characters and storylines.
Susan is a bilateral cochlear implant recipient, meaning she is a deaf woman who can hear. She is inspired every single day by new sounds, music, and voices that she never could have imagined! For this reason, Susan feels a sense of hope in every single day and wants to share it with others.

• 11:30am-1:00pm Author Visit: Carmen Ortega and Landon Medina will read their newly published book, Operation Twins—The Roaring Giant, immediately followed by a meet and greet, where they will sell and sign their book. Carmen, Educational Coordinator at the museum, and her 8-year-old son Landon, a student at Conroe Adventist Academy, were inspired to share their love of reading and books by creating their own Christian children’s book after attending an author event at the museum. The book that was presented that day featured illustrations created by children. Landon was curious as to how the children’s pictures got into the book, and that sparked the idea of following their dream of writing their own book together! The resulting story is about twins who travel back in time to a Bible story, where they work together to solve a problem and then return home.
They intend for this book to be the first of a series. Carmen and Landon hope that they are able to inspire children and adults to also follow their dreams just like they did!
