Lunar New Year Celebration
Join us on Saturday, February 3rd to Celebrate the Year of the 🐉 DRAGON! Experience the Museum transformed in traditional colors and decorations for this amazing Lunar New Year’s event while experiencing various fun activities and art projects! Lunar New Year is Saturday, February 10th, 2024, but we want to ensure our celebration does not conflict with other local celebrations, so the museum is celebrating Saturday, February 3rd, 2024.
Celebrate the Year of the DRAGON on Saturday, February 3rd from 10:00am-2:00pm with interactive art projects and dynamic Lion Dance performances.
The museum will be transformed with colorful decorations for this interactive, energetic experience dedicated to enlightening children about Asian culture and traditions through fun activities that celebrate the Year of the Dragon. In the Asian culture, the dragon represents good luck, strength, and health that the museum has transferred into dragon, lantern and stamp art projects for children to make during the event.
“During our Lunar New Year celebration, we encourage children to embrace diversity and appreciate the richness and variety of Asian cultures, regions, ethnicities, and traditions,” stated Angela Colton, the museum’s Executive Director.
With a dedication to preserving the traditional Asian art of the Lion and Dragon Dance, the Houston Lion Kings will be dressed in their theatrical lion costumes for three parades at 10:30am, 11:30am, and 12:30pm.
