Making your gift-giving easy this year, The Woodlands Children’s Museum welcomes, back by popular demand, the talented silhouette artist Patti Rishforth on Friday, December 4, 2020. Patti uses her artistic skill to capture your child’s image by cutting black paper into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, that will be treasured by families for years to come.

A silhouette is a form of portraiture that was replaced by the birth of the camera and photography many years ago. This art form of dramatic “dark on light shapes” has seen a rebirth in society as new generations show their appreciation for this unique style of art.

“This classic form of art makes a wonderful gift for the holidays by capturing your child’s image at a special moment in time,” stated Angela Colton, the museum’s Executive Director. “We are thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to families.”

The museum showcases this medium in its weekly Shadow Puppet Theater which we present every Thursday morning on stage. Books that tell of kindness and good deeds are reproduced and brought to life in silhouette during Miss Jan’s narration of these special curated stories. Our collection of pre-recorded Shadow Puppet Theater presentations can be found on our YouTube channel playlist for your enjoyment.

Silhouettes will be offered for 15-minute sessions throughout the day on December 4th. ONLY. Reservations can be made by calling the museum at 281-465-0955 for your preferred session time. The cost is just $45 for this custom art design.
