His background as a Montessori teacher provides him with a unique insight into the minds of children\, which he masterfully leverages in his performances. \nMcDermott’s songwriting prowess has earned him widespread recognition\, including numerous Parent’s Choice Awards and nominations\, as well as accolades from NAPPA and the International Song Writing Contest. In a testament to his exceptional talent\, he won first place in the Children’s Music category of the prestigious John Lennon Song Writing Contest in 1998. Furthermore\, he collaborated with Stan and Jan Berenstain\, setting ten of their beloved books to music.
