In the Light Lab\, children can engage in hands-on opportunities that explore color and shape recognition through sorting and matching of nautical themed objects. \n“On Pirate ‘n Mermaid Day\, we encourage children in our community to dress up and follow their hearts and believe in the power of love and giving\,” stated Angela Colton\, the museum’s Executive Director. “These values are expressed in the well-known Disney movie The Little Mermaid\, which is a fairy tale that was originally published in 1837 as part of a collection of stories by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen.” \nOn this special day\, children can make fish lips and strike a pose for a photo opportunity with Princess Ariel at 10:30am\, 11:30am\, 12:30pm\, and 1:30pm.
