DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, September 21st board our version of the Jolly Roger and keep a close eye out for treasure and mermaids during Pirate ‘n Mermaid Day! Land-ho; let’s navigate our way through the museum with our best peg-legs and fancy tails to find the hidden treasure! Ariel Meet ‘n Greets at 10:30am\, 11:30am\, 12:30pm\, 1:30pm. Pirate Meet ‘n Greets at 11:30am\, 12:30pm\, 1:30pm. At 11:00am Miss Jan will read “Lola: The Bracelet of Courage” by Sarah Cullen and Carmen Ellis and then at 1:00pm  “How I Became a Pirate” by Melinda Long. Set sail for an adventure on Pirate ‘n Mermaid Day\, Saturday\, September 21\, 2024\, from 10:00am until 2:00pm. During this event that celebrates the magical world of pirates and mermaids\, the museum’s exhibits will be open for play\, including The Muse art bar where children can create a unique pirate hat or mermaid mask. In the Light Lab\, children can engage in hands-on opportunities that explore color and shape recognition through sorting and matching of nautical themed objects. \n“On Pirate ‘n Mermaid Day\, we encourage children in our community to dress up and follow their hearts and believe in the power of love and giving\,” stated Angela Colton\, the museum’s Executive Director. “These values are expressed in the well-known Disney movie The Little Mermaid\, which is a fairy tale that was originally published in 1837 as part of a collection of stories by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen.” \nOn this special day\, children can make fish lips and strike a pose for a photo opportunity with Princess Ariel at 10:30am\, 11:30am\, 12:30pm\, and 1:30pm. In addition\, there will be Pirate meet and greets at 11:30am\, 12:30pm and 1:30pm. During the event\, guests are encouraged to explore the museum with a treasure map and be on the lookout for hidden objects. \nAt 11:00am\, gather for a mermaid-themed reading of Lola: The Bracelet of Courage by Sarah Cullen and Carmen Ellis. In this tale\, Lola the mermaid loses a magical bracelet that helps her feel brave and must seek a new way home through a kelp forest and dark cave. At 1:00pm\, enjoy How I Became a Pirate by Melinda Long. In this story\, Jeremy Jacob sets off on an adventurous voyage with a pirate crew and discovers the finer points of being a pirate\, such as throwing his food across the table\, getting rid of his manners\, and ignoring bedtime. \nFall Hours (NEW OPEN TIME)\nTuesday-Thursday 9:30am-2:00pm\nFriday 9:30am-4:00pm\nSaturday 10:00am-5:00pm\nClosed Sunday and Monday \n\nAs a 501(c)3 Non-Profit\, our goal is to make memories and create learning opportunities for children in our community.\nYour donation will help children discover\, play\, imagine\, and grow in a safe and nurturing environment. Donate here  \n
